Such a cute baby!
OK it's been three weeks since I updated, I know! I'm a slacker! Sorry. We've been busy the past few weeks. We had a WONDERFUL time with the family at Lucas's baptism. Tony and Rachel drove all the way over from Flint with their baby boy, Sam. That's a long trip for a baby, but we REALLY appreciated them coming over! We had such a great time over the weekend having them here, along with my parents and the Allans. We couldn't have asked for anything better! Luke was a very good little boy during the baptism, we were glad for that. No screaming babies at church. :) It was so fun having the babies together too...Sam, Ava, and Luke. They weren't together for very long, but they got to meet each other anyway. Lots more to come of that over the years.
I went up to Marquette for a couple of days with Lucas this week, it was really nice. It was very relaxing...and it was nice to get a little help with the little guy too. We are going back up there next week for my second baby shower, but it was fun to get up there just the two of us to see Grandma and Grandpa Conklin.
Lucas is doing great, he's getting so much more interactive, it's so cute! He's smiling a lot and making lots of baby noises...like he's trying to tell me something. He's losing his hair too. I think he might be a blondie by the time all of that is over...his eyebrows are pretty blond. He'll look just like his daddy if that happens! He is such a joy to us, we fall more and more in love with him every second.
I go back to work in less than three weeks! This maternity leave went by way too fast, but it has to happen sometime. The adult interaction will be good for me, but it is going to be VERY hard for me to leave him at daycare. I know they are great people, but just the thought of not seeing his milestones every day makes me want to cry. I know I'll see them when I pick him up, but it's not the same as being with him all the time. Hopefully someday I can go part-time then I can have the best of both worlds.
We just had Lucas's 2 month checkup, and he weighs 14 pounds, 9 oz. He's in the 96th percentile for weight, and 86 percentile for height. He's a big boy!! It's funny to think back to when I was pregnant and the doctor said a few times he thinks this is going to be a big baby. I bet he sure would have been big if we wouldn't have induced! He probably would have been late and a 10 pounder! :-D.
Anyway, that's about all for now, I can't guarantee when I'll update next...I'll see when I have time! :)

6 weeks old already!

Dancin' around!

He loves to dance around all by himself, here's a little smile!

Outside in a hat on a beautiful day!

Laying with Papa.

I can't believe Luke is 6 weeks old already!! :-( But it's getting more fun every day. He is getting more and more personality to him and is aware of his surroundings. When he's awake, he's always looking around at something. He's growing really fast too, he's 12 pounds already. I had to get rid of all of his 0-3 months clothes, and get him 3-6 month PJ's. He's a big feller! We'll see if he continutes to grow this fast or if he's just on a spurt, he's gaining a pound a week at this rate. It could slow down though, who knows. He also came down with a bit of a cold that he seems to finally be getting over. He's still a little congested, but it's improving. He also got his Mama sick, but I think I'm getting better too.
We had some great news in our family, my brother made it through the GM cuts! We are so happy for him and his family. What a relief. Our prayers do go out to his coworkers who were let go, it must be very hard for everyone there. It is bittersweet for Tony I'm sure...seeing his friends get let go yet he is staying. Very tough I'm sure.
In other news, Lucas is getting baptized next weekend. I'm REALLY looking forward to it! My parents, Tony, Rachel, Sam, Andy, Kristina, Ava, and Aunt Kathy will be here!! YEAH! I'm sure the weekend will go by too fast like it always does. But I really can't wait. Tony and Rachel haven't been here in years, so it's something I've been excited for for a long time. And I can't wait to see Sam & Ava, and the Allans too! It will be really neat to see how much the babies have grown. And having all of the kids together will be awesome. Lucas can't wait to meet his cousins. Lots of pictures will be taken I'm sure! The only downfall is that Jane and Lee can't make it, they will be out on the east coast helping Kristin with the kids. Her husband is going to be traveling for about a month so she is going to need a helping hand!
K, time to go figure out what's for dinner. XOXO!

Big Boy!

Easter Morning...in his church clothes Grandma C got him!

Papa and Lucas are tired.

Me and my baby!

A different outfit in the Easter Basket.

Little butter ball!

Some tummy time, but he cheats sometimes and just lays there!

Probably one of the only times I'm going to see this kid in a Lion's shirt. Unfortunately he'll probably be like his Daddy and wear green and gold! :-(

In his little baseball outfit (notice the cute socks that look like shoes Amanda got him!).
I know it's been a while, but this little guy is keeping me busy! I had lots of goals to clean out closets and stuff like that on my maternity leave, but it's hard enough keeping up with the house work alone! Fortuantely Dave has really been a big help around the house. On Saturday I went to the gym and I left Dave and Lucas at home...Dave had Lucas in the sling and he was vacuuming! What a good hubby. :) OK I can tell this is going to be a short post because I can hear Lucas making noises already, he's waking up. Quick updates: at 4 weeks, Luke weighed 10.9 pounds. That's over a 2 pound gain in 2 weeks. He's sleeping a little better now. He's going 3-4 hours at night now, which is great! We were worried the first time he did it, but he was fine. Just getting a little bit bigger where he can sleep longer now.
OK, I'm off. Love to all!

One more thing

I forgot to mention that Amanda & Blake, and also Jen and Chris Davidson visited this past weekend. The Woods made us dinner on Saturday night, which was SO nice of them. We had a bunch of left overs too we've been eating all week. I feel VERY blessed to have such nice friends! Thanks again Amanda & Blake!! Love you guys!!

3 Weeks!

Bath Time!
Mama, I'm dreaming I'm going to get THIIISSSS big!

I love my swing!

Spit up.

In his "Totally Cuter Than Daddy" shirt Ethan got him.

More swing time.

Full body shot.

With Papa.
Lucas is doing great! He's now three weeks and one day old. It seems to be going by too fast! But we are cherishing every moment with him. He had some trouble with the formula Dave was giving him at night time...he only has about 3 oz. of it a day, but he wasn't tolerating it well at all. He was a Mr. Fussy Man all day long after he had that. He had trouble digesting it. So now that we switched to 100% breastmilk, he is doing 100% better. Back to my happy little guy.
We are going to Marquette this weekend, I'm looking forward to that. We haven't been up there since August! So that will be fun. I think I'm going to pump ahead of time so Grandma and Grandpa can watch Lucas on Saturday night...then Dave and I can actually go out and have some fun together! It's been a long time since we've done that.
OK I don't have a lot of time, I have to run to the grocery store and do some things around the house while Lucas is sleeping. :)

One week, 3 days old!

All curled up with Mama, I didn't want to put him in is crib!

Getting ready for bed

With Daddy, crazy hair after a bath

More crazy hair!

OK Mama, let's go!

Big eyes

Luke's first St. Patty's Day!

Lucas is just over a week old and doing great. We're very lucky to have such a content newborn. Most of the time, he'll sleep for 2-3 hours, wake up, eat, get changed, look around for a bit, then back to sleep. Such a good little man! Sometimes he'll get up before 2 hours, but it's not that often. I think Dave and I have figured out a good routine where he take the first night shift around midnight or 1:00, then I'll do the 4:00 shift. That way we both get more sleep. That's one feeding he takes from a bottle, but oh well. Mama needs a break too. :-) And it's good bonding time for Luke and Dave.

We have our two-week check-up next Tuesday. It seems to already be going by fast which makes me kind of sad, but I'm trying not to think about it too much and just enjoy this time watching him grow.
OK, back to it...
XOXO,
Car
