Too cute, I'm bringing this one in to work for my desk. Hopefully I don't cry every time I see it!

Lots of updates! My mom threw me a beautiful shower over Memorial Day weekend. It was really nice, about 20 people showed up out at the cottage in Gwinn. I got LOTS of great stuff that was needed now that Luke is a tad older. It was really nice of everyone to make the trip out to the cabin. And Great Grandma and Grandpa got to meet Lucas, that was very cool.

We have also made a tough decision to find Baxter a new home. He has an aggressive side to him that is not safe for Lucas. He bit Ethan over Memorial Day weekend because he took something away from him he shouldn't have been chewing on. This isn't the first time this has happened. Of course a toddler will always want to play with the dog, and Baxter could very well bite him too. A toddler doesn't know any better. So Baxter needs to go to a home with no kids or older kids. It will be hard, but it is for the best all around. Baxter will get the attention he needs at a new home, and our kids will be safer.

We went to Wrigley Field this past Saturday, it was a lot of fun! It was a bit of a long day since we drove down there and back all in one day, but it was fun. Next time we will stay down there. I cried that morning saying good-bye to Lucas for that long, it was hard. But I made it.

I go back to work tomorrow. :-( I'm really sad to leave my baby, but it has to come sometime. It is sort of bittersweet, because I'm looking forward to seeing my co-workers and have some adult stimulation during the day, but I'm really going to miss Lucas. I hope I'm not a mess at work all day! That would be a little embarrassing. But, if I cry here and there, I'm sure people will understand. :)

We are so blessed with this precious baby boy, he is such a great baby. So content. This makes me feel good about leaving him at daycare, at least I know he'll be good for them. And the daycare is wonderful. They make me feel very comfortable leaving him there. He will be in great hands. But I'm sure I'll be calling them a few times tomorrow, and leaving work right at 4:00 to go and get him!

OK, that's all for now. Love you all!

Such a cute baby!
OK it's been three weeks since I updated, I know! I'm a slacker! Sorry. We've been busy the past few weeks. We had a WONDERFUL time with the family at Lucas's baptism. Tony and Rachel drove all the way over from Flint with their baby boy, Sam. That's a long trip for a baby, but we REALLY appreciated them coming over! We had such a great time over the weekend having them here, along with my parents and the Allans. We couldn't have asked for anything better! Luke was a very good little boy during the baptism, we were glad for that. No screaming babies at church. :) It was so fun having the babies together too...Sam, Ava, and Luke. They weren't together for very long, but they got to meet each other anyway. Lots more to come of that over the years.
I went up to Marquette for a couple of days with Lucas this week, it was really nice. It was very relaxing...and it was nice to get a little help with the little guy too. We are going back up there next week for my second baby shower, but it was fun to get up there just the two of us to see Grandma and Grandpa Conklin.
Lucas is doing great, he's getting so much more interactive, it's so cute! He's smiling a lot and making lots of baby noises...like he's trying to tell me something. He's losing his hair too. I think he might be a blondie by the time all of that is over...his eyebrows are pretty blond. He'll look just like his daddy if that happens! He is such a joy to us, we fall more and more in love with him every second.
I go back to work in less than three weeks! This maternity leave went by way too fast, but it has to happen sometime. The adult interaction will be good for me, but it is going to be VERY hard for me to leave him at daycare. I know they are great people, but just the thought of not seeing his milestones every day makes me want to cry. I know I'll see them when I pick him up, but it's not the same as being with him all the time. Hopefully someday I can go part-time then I can have the best of both worlds.
We just had Lucas's 2 month checkup, and he weighs 14 pounds, 9 oz. He's in the 96th percentile for weight, and 86 percentile for height. He's a big boy!! It's funny to think back to when I was pregnant and the doctor said a few times he thinks this is going to be a big baby. I bet he sure would have been big if we wouldn't have induced! He probably would have been late and a 10 pounder! :-D.
Anyway, that's about all for now, I can't guarantee when I'll update next...I'll see when I have time! :)
Love,
Car
